Responsible for providing proactive leadership regarding the overall success, management, and sophistication of the sales team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads day to day sales and commercial activities.
  • Coach and develop sales team of 3 to 10 individuals.
  • Review and ensure all the account plans are current and being executed according to the plan.
  • Resolve customer concerns and issues.
  • Lead local proposal development and customer conversion.
  • Provide market intelligence on customers and industries.
  • Develop new account objectives to maintain/grow volumes while increasing margins.
  • Provide managerial leadership and directs the selection, supervision and evaluation of staff.
  • Conducts performance appraisals for direct reports. Initiates salary actions and disciplinary actions as warranted.
  • Provide training and motivation to make use of individual capabilities.

Other Functions:

  • Special projects as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years progressively responsible experience in similar industry, at least 5 years at a manager level.
  • Minimum 5 years' industrial experience in product marketing preferred.
  • Effectively develop, lead and manage a team of high-performing sales and marketing team on ways to improve their sale performance, achieve goals and obtain expected goals.
  • Manage overall strategy, regularly monitor and analyze sales and marketing strategies against goals and accountabilities as well as day-to-day tactical decisions.
  • Adhere to, participate and provide leadership regarding marketing plan. Demonstrate meaningful year after year profitable growth and geographic expansion.
  • Direct and oversee the organizations sales policies, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Experience and knowledge of hedging strategies and international commodity market is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of truck, rail, barge and ship logisitics is a strong plus.
  • Able to develop goals and objectives and to implement critical and complex planning activities.
  • Able to analyze and evaluate operations and develop and implement action to resolve problems.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, regulatory agencies, industry contacts and the general public.
  • Demonstrate a participative management style- advocate of team concept.
  • Establish credibility and be decisive while able to recognize and support organization's preferences and priorities.
  • Be results and people oriented and balance other business considerations.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work related experience required.


Working Conditions:

  • This position requires working in an office setting, with long periods of time sitting.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, push and pull at least up to 10 lbs.
