Sr. Tax Compliance Analyst - Grapevine/Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

Pilot Thomas Logistics (PTL) sells and transports fuel, lubricants, and petroleum chemicals to the marine, mining, industrial and exploration industries. The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting in the timely filing of third-party prepared excise and sales tax compliance returns. They will research taxability of products and services based on geographical area and maintain all areas of tax in the ERP system. They will manage tax related documents and ensure business licenses are renewed in a timely manner. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual excise and sales tax compliance process.
  • Monitor new customer tax set up, tax rate changes and ensure proper implementation of tax exemptions and other tax settings in the ERP system.
  • Respond to tax inquiries, conduct research, and communicate with other departments to minimize tax issues.
  • Manage the process of tracking tax exemption certificates and the renewing of business licenses.

Other Functions:

  • Special projects as requested.
  • Assist the accounting department during month-end close, as well as bank and external audits.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Federal, state and local excise and sales tax compliance experience.
  • Excellent communication, technical, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Proactive in process improvements.
  • Ability to work in a complex tax environment.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team as required.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Develop productive relationships with internal staff and external partners.
  • Experience with Sage ERP Accounting Software is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.
